Enjoy a fun evening socializing with fellow Hamiltonians in a wine and cheese reception at the beautiful World Trade Gallery. It will also be a great opportunity to interact with Hamilton authors and scholars from all over the country (and maybe ask that question you've been dying to know the answer to). Don't miss out on the fun get-together!

This event is part of the annual CelebrateHAMILTON program, held around the anniversary of Hamilton's death, honors Alexander Hamilton's life and legacy with special events including author talks, walking tours, histoy presentations, and special commemorations.

Graveside Remembrance Ceremony at Trinity Church

alexander hamilton graveJoin us at Hamilton's final resting place for a memorial service to honor Alexander Hamilton on the 213th anniversary of his passing. The AHA Society, Trinity Church clergy, the US Coast Guard and Auxiliary, the Museum of American Finance, and the Hearts of Oak will all participate in this year's event. There will also be a moment in the ceremony when attendees will be invited to come forward and place flowers on the Hamilton graves, so you are encouraged to bring flowers with you to participate. Master of Ceremonies with be Kenneth Baum, Hawaii Chapter President of the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society.  

The ceremony will be followed by a talk by our keynote speaker, Robert E. Wright, at the nearby Museum of American Finance at 2 pm. (see more information below)

"Hamilton's Blessed Debt" by Robert E. Wright

One Nation Under Debt CoverDr. Robert E. Wright describes the difficult financial and economic landscape facing the new nation, Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton’s financial solutions to stimulate economic growth, and the measures that verify the remarkable results.  Dr. Wright draws from his book, One Nation Under Debt: Hamilton, Jefferson, and the History of What We Owe, one of the most important non-biographical books on Hamilton. The Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society has recently designated Robert E. Wright as a National Hamilton Scholar, and will present the award at the conclusion of his talk.

About the Speaker
Robert Wright is the Nef Family Chair of Political Economy at Augustana University, where he teaches courses in business, economic, financial and policy history. He is the editor or co-editor of 21 volumes and the author or co-author of 18 books, including The Poverty of Slavery: How Unfree Labor Pollutes the Economy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017). Wright is one of the Museum of American Finance's guest curators and a member of the Financial History editorial board.

This event is co-presented with the Museum of American Finance.
