CelebrateHAMILTON is the annual festival sponsored by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society (the AHA Society) to celebrate the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the anniversary of his passing. 2015 marks the fourth annual CelebrateHAMILTON program, which commemorated the 211th anniversary of Hamilton's duel with Aaron Burr and subsequent death.

 AHA Society Events for CelebrateHAMILTON 2015

Among the seventeen events held as part of CelebrateHAMILTON 2015, there were a variety of presentations, tours, and anniversary commemorations on various topics from Alexander Hamilton's life. This year included events celebrating the 225th anniversary of the Coast Guard; the first 'Washington's New Jersey Winter Encampments' tour; the 225th anniversary of the July 10, 1790 Presidential dinner at the Morris-Jumel Mansion; the traditional graveside remembrance ceremony; the annual Weehawken remembrance gathering; and the official debut of the new book, "Alexander Hamilton: The Formative Years."

In a moderated discussion, Michael E. Newton discusses his book, Alexander Hamilton: The Formative Years, which explores Hamilton's youth in the West Indies and his service in the Revolutionary War. This event was filmed by C-SPAN3 on July 10th as one of the CelebateHAMILTON events and can be watched online for free.

Day 1 Event Highlights

Alexander Hamilton grave and wreath July 2015Events included a US Coast Guard Auxiliary brass quintet concert on the steps of Federal Hall; a gathering at Alexander Hamilton's Grave; "Alexander Hamilton - The Formative Years," a talk by author and historian Michael E. Newton, followed by a book signing; and the 225th Anniversary of Washington's First Cabinet Dinner at the Morris-Jumel Mansion.


Day 2 Event Highlights

Hamilton Fun Run at Hamilton Grange July 2015Events included the 11th annual Hamilton Fun Run; presentations and activities at Hamilton's home, the Grange; a visit to the Hamilton Memorial in Weehawken, NJ; and a talk by Dr. Joanne Freeman on the Burr-Hamilton Duel co-sponsored by the Weehawken Historical Comission.
